In the apartheid era, psychology as a field was associated with the affluent. As a result, it did not fully reach the marginalised or the designated groups in the areas of medico-legal assessments, training and leadership development, talent and performance management as well as employee health and safety services. Against this background, SANCHO Industrial Psychology Services was established to reduce the inequality gap between the haves and the have nots in developing psychologically healthy communities in South Africa.
